The Trash Can Download #1

Here you go! The first piece of a very big puzzle!
TRASH CAN DOWNLOAD #1
This collection of 11 songs comes from around #440 in the mix, I thought this was a nice way to introduce folks to the Trash Can. A lot of classics here, all 80s jams--Billy Ocean, The English Beat, and Annie Lennox all appear here, and in top form at that! So Enjoy! I'll be putting up another piece of the mix soon, stay tuned. Be sure to comment on songs, one of best things about these type of songs is everyone has heard them so we all associate them with a particular time and place. If you feel like sharing, I'd love to post you stories. Talking just yesterday about Annie Lennox's "Walking on Broken Glass" a friend told me the song was their high school morning anthem, awesome.
...The Trash Can Begins...
Welcome to the Ultimate Trash Music source! I've been working on this playlist for a few years now, a comprehensive collection of the most essential over-played songs (hints 'trash') of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Born in '82 this is an archive of the music I inherited--the music American popular culture is built on.
The mix consists of some 1001 tracks, from ABBA to ZZ Top and all the side roads in between. Compiling this has been no walk in the park. Countless people have been consulted and their recommendations included.
Special thanks must go out to Ryan Deal & Will O. Hart for without these people the mix might just have been my collection of Classic Rock/AOR radio-cocaine songs, but their scope and interpretation of "Trash Music" made the mix before you possible. Also I am in debt to the musical tastes of my Father, an avid Steely Dan/Wang Chung/Tears for Fears fan, and my Mother, a dedicated Oldies radio listener.
Although I will not upload the entire list at one time all the songs are encoded with track numbers so as you download pieces your iTunes will arrange them properly. I encourage you to listen to the songs in sequence, much effort as been made to create a magical, exciting, and unpredictable journey through the history of Trash.
I'll post some videos for songs, as well as Trash related News stories. Additionally, over the next few days I'll begin a few other episodic Trash themed download links. In short, more to come!
